Shooting down the limitations of the traditional water softener!

Introducing the Dynamic Duel Whole House Carbon Filtration Softener System. Carbon filtration is the oldest and most reliable water filtration method. The use of carbon for water filtration dates back to ancient Egypt.

Chemicals and waterborne contaminants bond to the carbon at a molecular level, simply by passing over the carbon. This eliminates chlorine, all VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and odors. Traditional water softeners only remove a portion of chlorine.

Chlorine is Harmful in Many Ways
Tap water is chlorinated. When chlorinated water is heated, such as for a bath or shower, chlorine gas is released into the air. Every time you take a hot bath or shower without a carbon filter, you breathe in some amount of chlorine gas.

No Costly Up Front Investments
We replace the carbon filter and water softener every 5 years with our rental program. All service required, other than regular salt addition, is included in the rental fee.

Here is some information I found about the benefits of carbon filtration.

Carbon Filtration:
What It Does, What It Doesn’t

by Gene Franks

The largest single section in the of the “EPA Regulated Water Contaminants” published in Water Technology magazine, is the section on Organics (including VOCs, or “Volatile Organics”). In this category the EPA lists 32 very nasty chemical contaminants — many with familiar names like benzene, 1,1 dichlorethylene, carbon tetrachloride, dioxin, styrene, toluene, chloroform, and vinyl chloride. To give an idea of the extensiveness of this list, a single one of the 32 items is “Total Trihalomethanes”, a category made up of still uncounted chemicals, assumed to number in the thousands, that are formed when water containing organic matter (i. e., virtually all water) is treated with chlorine. The maximum allowable level for trihalomethanes, which are suspected cancer causers and are present in virtually all chlorinated tap water, is only 1/10 of one part per million. For the Organics category, the primary treatment in all cases and the only recommended treatment in most cases, is activated carbon.

The EPA’s Pesticides category lists 14 familiar poisons such as Aldicarb, Chlordane, Heptachlor, and Lindane. In all 14 cases, activated carbon is the only recommended treatment. Of the 12 Herbicides listed (2,4-D, Atrazine, etc.), activated carbon is the only treatment recommended.

For Organics, Pesticides, and Herbicides, the standard treatment, and in most cases the only treatment recommended, is activated carbon.

When people say water filter, they most frequently mean a carbon filter of some variety, because since the Egyptians discovered that storing water in charcoal made it stay fresher and taste better, carbon has been a standard feature in water treatment. Its centuries of popularity attest to its effectiveness.

What is Boyett’s Family Rayne Water Conditioning next mission?

To develop a carbon based product to remove lead from our water.

….Activated carbon itself appears in the EPA list as a preferred treatment only for mercury, but carbon block filters can also be engineered to remove lead…..

This is our marketing story about how we developed a product to remove lead in the water.

I received an e mail from one of our Fast Track Music members (http://rentsoftwater.com/fast-track-musical-instrument-and-voice-utilization-program-2/) that read as follows:

I thought you might have an interest in this story from The Washington Post.

Untold cities across America have higher rates of lead poisoning than Flint http://wapo.st/1mfR0pm

Beyond Flint: Anticipating the Impact on Water Treaters Nationwide

By Jason Wuliger

The tragedy of lead-laced water in Flint, Mich., has entered the national consciousness and has provoked a visceral reaction from the public: “Could this happen in my town? What’s under the ground affecting my water that I can’t see?” And for good reason: Over 15% of the homes in Flint have…

Right away I started thinking about a name for this product; and the first thing that came to my mind is

possible name for this product: lead killer

By utilizing this product name – included within our marketing picture can be my father’s double barrel 12 gauge shotgun.  We always seek to utilize my father’s accouterments and his artifacts (boots, cowboy hats and guns ‘there are many’)  when developing marketing media and ideas for our new product and processes.  Just a thought.

This situation first came to my attention while reading the newspaper in the early part of January.   I waited to post this Flint Michigan ‘lead in the water’ information on our web page out of compassion (this is an awful situation).  However, when I learned this same problem may exist in other regions (low PH water is causing lead to leach from plumbing ‘and getting into people’s water’); we decided to develop a product ‘to abolish lead from water’.

I emailed Troy asking for a recipe to remove lead from tap water.

I received an

Email from Troy 02.03.16

Recipe for lead removal in water

The Lead removal options:  9×48 resin tank with clack backwashing valve with 1/3 of cubic ft of KDF backwashing at a rate of 10 gallons per minute.  The KDF will need replacing at least every 5 years.

2nd option: 20” BB Flow Plus is a ½ micron carbon block filter.

Troy sought guidance from the same company that has helped us to develop many of our recent products including (Filtersorb SP3 with carbon filtration, Dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter, +h2o+ph+ro and +h2o+ph+mg+ro).

The lead killer product will be included in our dynamic duel offering.  People who wish to purchase this out of Arizona – please call (480) 969-7251 or e mail hayden@azh2o.com or text (602) 291-4157.

Tp said that water has to be sent to a lab to test for lead

Tp mentioned the people magazine article about this

The lady who was holding the bottles up ‘and got the ball rolling on this issue’ may have had lead testing equipment in her home.

This is our marketing picture.  Our slogan is: no lead in your water.  The gun used for this photo is my father’s side by side 12 gauge shotgun.  We will be writing a marketing story about how this product idea was developed and we will describe my father’s accouterments used in this photo shoot.  We seek to honor my father in our work.  We seek to utilize his resources to aggrandize our activities and make our water treatment offerings more useful and influential.

As we speak with more people in the San Tan Valley area of Arizona – we are learning that our dynamic duel unit may be beneficial to treat the water here.  Based upon our water tests; this is the only area of town that we have deleted lead in the water.  Carbon media can remove lead in the water (https://www.wqa.org/Portals/0/Technical/Technical%20Fact%20Sheets/2016_GAC.pdf).  If you install a dynamic duel water softener (which includes GAC carbon) this will make the water much better for drinking and for the maintenance of your home.  Water softener system San Tan Valley AZ.

In a recent news story discussing the problem of lead in our water (http://www.wlbz2.com/news/health/excessive-lead-levels-found-in-almost-2000-water-systems-across-all-50-states/86453261)

…..a USA TODAY NETWORK investigation has identified almost 2,000 additional water systems spanning all 50 states where testing has shown excessive levels of lead contamination over the past four years.

… Many of the highest reported lead levels were found at schools and daycares. A water sample at a Maine elementary school was 42 times higher than the EPA limit of 15 parts per billion, while a Pennsylvania preschool was 14 times higher, records show. At an elementary school in Ithaca, N.Y., one sample tested this year at a stunning 5,000 ppb of lead, the EPA’s threshold for “hazardous waste.”

Boyett’s Family has a solution to remove lead in water.  By utilizing specially designed carbon filtration products; we can remove lead in your water.  This product is called ‘no lead in your water’.

Here is a story about a soft water loop.

What is a Soft water loop?

A soft water loop is a piece of pipe that allows a water treatment company to attach water filtration equipment to treat water for use in a home or business.

Here is my drawing of a loop

This is usually located in the garage ‘by the water heater’.  If you walk up to this pipe and look at it; you may say – ‘that looks like a loop’.  It is usually made out of copper pipe (this is usually painted the color of the wall surface).

How much does a soft water loop cost?

If you do not have a soft water loop; the initial investment to install a soft water loop ranges between $550.00- $1,000.00.

Why does it cost so much?

If there is not a soft water loop in your home or business; the labor and materials necessary to perform this task can be considerable.

My family is always happy to stop by and perform what we call: a free pre-plumbing inspection.  This takes less than 30 minutes and we answer any questions you have; give you a plumbing estimate and discuss what water treatment equipment will best meet your needs.

If you ask my family to install a soft water loop in your home; we utilize our own staff (some of the technicians have worked here between 10 and 30 years).  We will utilize the best supplies ‘our plan is to install your loop so it lasts at least 50 years’.  I am the qualified plumbing license holder for our company.  We take great pride following all of our local plumbing codes so you will receive the greatest benefit from our work.

What if I have a soft water loop; how much does it cost to install a rental water softener?

If your home is equipped with a loop the installation fee is $75.00.

These are several pictures that show our installations ‘where a loop was not present’.   These pictures represent the plumbing work that is necessary at the point of entry.

If there is not a drain; where does the water softener drain?

This is one of the possible locations for the drain – a garage clean out.

We located a clean out cap for a sewer drain and built a P trap.

This is a drawing of a clean out cap for a sewer drain.

Here are several pictures where we installed a loop.

This man said: “Their work looks like art.”  I have enjoyed using this expression many times when describing our technicians work.  Our inclination is to undersell and impress you.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  I loved working with all of these people.

My final words on installing a loop for water treatment equipment: If it is done correctly with the proper plan in place – this loop will satisfactorily deliver treated water for the intended purpose; to the correct location and last for over 50 years.  Here is a picture of our people who perform this work.  They are the very best in the industry.  Your loop will be the best loop in the world.

……several more words on this topic:

Is a Boyett’s loop better than the loop my builder can install?

Because with a Boyett’s Family loop our soft water (and filtered water) will travel to more locations in your home.

When the builders install a soft water loop (when the plumbing company the builders choose – plumb a soft water loop) they bypass the cold water at the kitchen sink and the back yard hose bib.

Why do the builders bypass the cold water at the kitchen sink?

Good question.  Nobody likes this.  They should stop this practice (the plumbing companies should stop bypassing the cold water at the kitchen sink – ‘STOP IT’ right now).

When Boyett’s family installs our loop; soft water will travel to the cold water at your kitchen sink.  Soft water on the cold water ‘at the kitchen sink’ can be useful when washing dishes.  It can also be useful if you chose the dynamic duel filtration system ‘your cold water will be filtered for drinking purposes’.

If you buy a home – with a loop installed by a builder – your cold water at your kitchen sink will be hard water and unfiltered.

Our soft water will travel to your back hose bib too (the builder’s loop will not provide soft water to your back hose bib).

With soft water on the patio, you can utilize soft water to wash off patio furniture – fill buckets with soft water and wash windows with soft water.

If you purchase a home with a builder installed soft water loop; your back hose bib will be hard water.  This sucks.  A builder installed soft water loop sucks.  A Boyett’s family soft water loop is great.  I apologize about using such strong language describing the quality of builder installed soft water loops.  We have apologized for builders soft water loops for 50 years (explaining why the builders install loops do not provide soft water to the cold water at the kitchen sink).  It is now time for this practice to stop.  Now here this builder: provide your clients with soft water at the kitchen sink when you sell them a loop.

Here are some images from our past.

This picture is about circa 1975.  My father was so proud to have this piece of machinery.  This is a Ditch Witch trencher. Ditch Witch still manufactures this equipment.  They look very similar today (https://www.ditchwitch.com/trenchers).

In the early days of our industry, we ran a hard water line to the backyard because many people used the back hose bib to supply the water to their backyard irrigation valves and sprinkler systems.  However, we do not take the time to perform this work these days ‘in 99% of our installations’.  Most irrigation systems and sprinklers are furnished from the main line (point of entry – in the front of the house); therefore it eliminates the need for this extra expense (running a hard water line to the backyard).

The ditch witch machine made this laborious work much less arduous.

When we dig a ditch these days we utilize hand tools and are very careful where we dig so we do not cut your phone, cable and electrical lines.   We are also very conscious to make our digging area very clean when our work is complete.

Most full-line installations (this is the industry slang we utilize to refer to installing a soft water loop) can be performed in less than 5 hours.  We most often will provide the labor of two people to finish our work efficiently.  When we leave your home; the plumbing will be beautiful and you will have soft water running through all your plumbing.

We provide water treatment to Phoenix Arizona; water treatment to Scottsdale Arizona; water treatment to Fountain Hills Arizona and water treatment to Chandler, AZ.

Some specific services we offer is reverse osmosis service to Buckeye, AZ; reverse osmosis service to San Tan Valley, AZ and reverse osmosis maintenance to Gilbert, AZ.

A water softener unit in Gilbert AZ can help reduce hard water deposits on dishes.  A water softener unit in Gilbert AZ can also help solve serious skin conditions eczema, psoriasis and itchy skin (https://diyhealth.com/help-ease-eczema-psoriasis-water-softener.html).  Water softener units in Gilbert AZ will improve your living style.

We have had a person ask us this question: Does Boyett’s family Rayne Water Conditioning provide water softener service in PHX AZ?   We said yes; we have for over 52 years with great precision and excellence.  We specialize in providing excellent technical service to most water softener brands.  We are currently in the process of testing many units to determine the water usage and the efficiency.   We are proud to offer this exclusive service to the nice people of Phoenix Arizona:  Water softener service to Phoenix Arizona.

Can soft water help kids with the skin condition known as eczema?

I base my answer on my many years working in my family’s soft water business (I began working in our soft water business when I was in high school; I am 49 years old now).  I have heard many success stories about how my family’s soft water products and services have cured children and adults with eczema.

We are in the process of collecting medical evidence on this topic; requesting our industry association (the Water Quality Association) begin health studies right away on the topic of (how soft water can cure adult and children with this skin condition known as eczema).  We feel there are many people who are living their lives in misery with this skin condition known as eczema.  We feel our soft water work can improve the lives of people who have eczema.

What is the skin condition known as eczema?

Will a water softener system in Scottsdale Arizona help solve your eczema, psoriasis and itchy skin?  Yes (http://psoriasisexcematips.blogspot.com/2009/02/faq-water-softeners-and-dry-skin.html).  Rayne Water is proud to provide water softener systems to our customers in Scottsdale Arizona.  A water softener system in Scottsdale Arizona can help solve your eczema, psoriasis and itchy skin.

02.21.17 11:37 AM.  I was looking through my Google News today and saw this image

Of a man utilizing bottled water to cook.

With this headline:

Unsafe to drink

A Globe review shows water treatment plants are failing on reserves across Canada. For every system

the government fixes, plenty remain in a shambolic state

The first thing I did is look up this word: shambolic

chaotic, disorganized, or mismanaged.

I was surprised to see the meaning of this word.  I consider all places in Canada to be fairly organized.  I consider Canada to be a good neighbor.  It is said that at any time 20% of our Arizona population is made up of our great neighbors from Canada.

The article went on to state that one of the biggest hurdles in Canada is the tremendous cost of infrastructure to treat the water and transport this clean water to homes.

This verbiage caught my eye:

Most treatment plants use chlorine to disinfect water. But chlorine can react with dissolved organics to form a byproduct called trihalomethanes, which are considered carcinogenic. This requires the organics to be removed before chlorination. Health Canada sets a maximum allowable concentration of trihalomethanes of 0.1 milligrams per litre. Concentrations in Canadian drinking water are typically well below those guidelines, but trihalomethanes remain a problem for many small municipalities and reserves.

What are trihalomethanes:

Trihalomethanes are formed as a by-product predominantly when chlorine is used to disinfect water for drinking. They represent one group of chemicals generally referred to as disinfection by-products. They result from the reaction of chlorine or bromine with organic matter present in the water being treated. The THMs produced have been associated through epidemiological studies with some adverse health effects. Many governments set limits on the amount permissible in drinking water. However, trihalomethanes are only one group of many hundreds of possible disinfection by-products—the vast majority of which are not monitored—and it has not yet been clearly demonstrated which of these are the most plausible candidate for causation of these health effects. In the United States, the EPA limits the total concentration of the four chief constituents (chloroformbromoformbromodichloromethane, and dibromochloromethane), referred to as total trihalomethanes (TTHM), to 80 parts per billion in treated water. (0.5)

It is true that using granulated activated carbon (GAC) can remove trihalomethanes. (1)

As we understand talking to people in Buckeye Arizona – Trihalomethanes is a water problem in their homes.  The cities are adding much chlorine to the water.  Adding chlorine to the water causes Trihalomethanes in you water.  By adding Water softener service to your home in Buckeye AZ along with a whole house carbon filter – this combonation will remove the chlorine in your water – providing you this result (no more Trihalomethanes).  A water softener service in Buckey AZ can help you.

Well, Arizona didn’t make the top ten list of the worst waters. (1.5) However, I feel this topic deserves great introspection.  The Boyett’s Family’s opinion: it is better to be protected and have this water treatment equipment responsible for protecting your family (have this water treatment equipment well maintained by changing the entire unit every five years).   Our dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter will provide this level of service to your home or business.

The last portion of this article talked about the remedies for this problem.

Here is the Boyett’s Family suggested a remedy for all water treatment problems.  Hire a dependable/ respectable/ knowledgeable water treatment company that has a great legacy and heritage to protect your family’s drinking water and utility water (to be utilized in the house for bathing and cleaning).  I happen to know the phone number to a  dependable/ respectable/ knowledgeable water treatment company (480) 969-7251.  Please call them.  They are kind people.  Here is their e mail address: hayden@azh2o.com

02.21.17 12:54 PM  A man just called our office because he was having problems with his eyes.  He thought that his eye problems may be caused by the amount of chlorine in the water.  His eyes were bothering him.  His eyes are stinging.   I am wondering if this problem is being caused by the high chlorine content or trihalomethanes.

04.28.17 4:59 PM I am overwhelmingly moved by the success of this product.  We now have 155 people who have enrolled in this rental product and service.  I love a product and company with a great story.  This product was derived from an experiment – we are utilizing my father’s intrigue and legacy (and his accouterments) ‘for the marketing of this product’; along with sound water treatment technology and principles.  People seem to love the taste of the water and the final results (they are receiving these great results all over their house).   I will keep you updated as we continue to develop this product and service; as you help us to develop this into a very popular product in the Phoenix Metro area which includes Buckeye and Fountain Hills Arizona.

04.29.17 5:48 PM I am very humbled by this positive comment that we just received on our Google by Trent Hanzal (I normally will not publish our client’s names; however, this is the name you will see in our Google):

Why? Why in the world did it take me so long to get a water softener system? I grew up with one but have lived with Az hard water since moving here in ’93. One reason is I had no idea one could rent these systems. Perfect no hassle way to have gentle water. The wonderful news is I may not have ended up with a Boyetts’ system had I known anything prior. Luckily a co-worker told me about them…as an amazing side note they have a referral program and sent my co-worker a referral payment, the more amazing part is he’s not even a customer yet… So many things to cover. Hayden is a remarkable man. Everything he said would happened did. It is hard to put into words when you find a family owned trustworthy business. With my wife owning her own family business it is good support another. Install was smooth and clean. Received clear instruction and they communicated the whole time. They were able to put the system outside which came as a nice surprise so no room was taken up in the garage. I can’t say enough about Boyetts. Too bad only 5 stars are available.

This is the picture Trent posted of his point of entry:

I’m going to be very forthright with you: when I saw this picture – my breath was a little taken away.  Here is why

  1. I was very impressed with the beauty ‘the two red valves (which matched with the blue hose)’
  2. I was also very impressed how the pipes were straight and followed lines of artistic structure.

Our company is really focusing on differentiating ourselves by performing all of our loop installations with our own technicians.  In our industry these are called full lines.  Full lines require arduous work and many labor hours and these jobs must be performed by skilled plumbers who take pride in their work.  I tell you this as a business man (who has to pay for all that is involved); full lines require a tremendous investment of human resources and capital.  For this reason I have decided to specialize in this area and focus intently to become the best by utilizing the ‘hedgehog approach (as described here:https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/hedgehog-concept.htm)’.

By utilizing this principle; performing this work with our own technicians and plumbers – we feel this will give our customers a better experience and this will give our organization a unique brand (which has become even more important to us as the days pass).

Here is the picture of the equipment that Trent posted:

It is a dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter and he loves it.

You can see Trent’s comments and these pictures (the pictures will look better: I had to take a picture of a picture to display them here) here:

This is very dynamic to me.

Last evening I was fortunate to meet with our 27-year customer to discuss remedies for home chlorine removal.  Here are some extracts from the follow up email I sent her:

Here are a couple of articles I have found that describe the health problems that can be caused by having chlorine in our water:

At our meeting we discussed the importance of having the proper volume of carbon media.

What is the appropriate volume of carbon media?

One to two cubic feet of carbon (in most household situations) is the appropriate volume.

Here is a description:  one cubic foot of carbon will clean 1-3 gallons of water per minute.

A shower will flow 1.7 gallons per minute.

We just received this comment on our Google profile today from Ashley S. :

We have had other water softeners in the past but this system we have installed is the best of the best and the price can’t be beaten. Brian came out and explained all our options to us and had someone come out and install everything before we moved into our new home. If you’re wondering if having RO alkaline water is worth it, it totally is! Our water has never tasted so clean and the ice cubes are crystal clear. We looked into other companies but this company is so innovative and has amazing customer service I would never use anyone else.

Low water pressure caused by the water softener is usually (cation resin that is disintegrating).

It is best to be proactive rather than reactive.

Last night I met with a woman in Chandler who was receiving low water pressure in her home caused by the water softener.

This is very inconvenient and can lead to many extra costs.

We have a simple rental solution with our dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter whole house water treatment unit.   For $1.67 per day you can have soft water and delicious tasting drinking water throughout your home.   We exchange our dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter every five years so you will never experience any inconvenience.   There is no additional cost for this service.

Here is a link in which we explicate the inner workings of our water softeners and discuss the cation resin (the main ingredient of the water softener)

In the San Tan Valley AZ we provide much water softener service because the water company adds so much chlorine to the water; which destroys the cation resin material (water softener service San Tan Valley AZ).

We have received several calls about the awful taste and smell in the Mesa water and Tempe Arizona tap water.  This is an article that addresses this:

Low concentrations of Geosmin found in Mesa water – AZCentral.com

Aug 30, 2017 – Mesa officials are warning city residents about a slight change in the odor and taste of their water for the next few weeks. The city’s water resource department says the change is caused by a byproduct of seasonal algae called Geosmin.

Will Boyett’s dynamic duel ‘carbon filter’ unit significantly improve the awful taste and awful odor of my water caused by algae (geosmin)?

Ion Exchange

I recently have been studying Installer’s Home Study Course prepared and distributed by the Water Quality Association.  I am going through the process to recertify myself by taking a quiz.

This book contained information in which I would like to share with you.

General information

Description – The general class of water conditioning equipment which utilizes cation exchange resin to remove positively charged mineral ions, or anion exchange resin to remove negatively charged mineral ions from a water supply.  In each case, the mineral ions are replaced by equivalent ions, the system is regenerated.  The typical ion exchange system consists of a pressure vessel which holds the resin, a control valve, and a tank which holds the regeneration solution.

Pretreatment Requirements – The key to a successfully operating ion exchange system is knowledge of the raw water supply.  A basic water analysis, for a water softener system, should include tests for:

Total hardness

Iron level

total dissolved solids (TDS)

Chlorine test

Other information may be required for specific systems.  See the appropriate section in this manual for the system being installed, and consult the manufacturer’s recommendation for water analysis requirements.

Installation requirements – The following general conditions must be met to insure the proper operation of an ion exchange system.

Water Pressure – between 30 and 100 psi.  Pressure below the minimum will cause inefficient performance and too frequent regeneration.  On well supplies, the pump pressure setting can often be raised to achieve the minimum level.  (The pressure switch settings should only be changed by qualified pump service personnel.)  If the pressure cannot be increased by using existing equipment, a booster pump may be added upstream of the water conditioning system.

If the water pressure exceeds the maximum, a pressure reducing valve should be installed upstream of the water conditioning system.  Pressure above the maximum limit can cause damage to the system, will void the warranty, and will cause noisy operation of the valve.

Electrical source (when required) – Normally 110 volt, single phase source should be close enough to the system to avoid the use of an extension cord.  If an extension cord must be used, it must have the same electrical rating as the unit to be installed.  If an electrical outlet must be installed, contact a qualified electrician.  If the receptacle will only accept a two-prong plug, use a three-prong adaptor, properly grounded.  DO NOT remove the grounding prong.

Drain – System must have a drain that can handle the maximum flow rate during regeneration (usually the backwash rate) for the amount of time it will operate at that rate.  The drain should be located reasonably close to the unit but not more than 20 feet away.  In some installations, the drain line must be elevated after it leaves the softener.  It is important to keep the drain line as short as possible.  Consult the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Temperature – The system should be installed in an area protected from temperature extremes.  It must be protected from freezing and should not be housed in an unventilated area or so close to a heat source (furnace, hot water pipe, etc.) that damage to the unit can result.  Even though most system components have UV inhibitors, it is still best if the system is protected from direct exposure to sunlight.  Outdoor installations should be protected from rain, blowing sand or dust, and temperature extremes.

Adequate Space – There must be sufficient room to allow for piping to and from the control valve.  Don’t forget the space required for a by-pass valve.  There should also be sufficient space to allow easy access to all parts of the system should repair or replacement be necessary.  Placement should also allow easy access to the brine tank for filling.  This includes enough space ABOVE the tank to allow removal of the tank cover and space to maneuver 40 – 80 pound salt bags.  The brine tank must rest on a suitable materials may be used to create one.  Consult the manufacturer’s installation instructions for necessary clearances.

Installation Guidelines

  1. Cation Exchange Water Softeners
    1. Description – A class of ion exchange water conditioning equipment which use cation resin to replace positively charged mineral ions with another, more desirable ion (primarily sodium or potassium). Water softeners are primarily used to remove the hardness ions calcium and magnesium and low levels of iron.  The typical water softener consists of a pressure vessel which holds the cation resin, a control valve with a brining system, and a brine tank which holds the salt solution for regeneration.
    2. Pretreatment Requirements – The raw water supply must be tested before the softener is installed. The minimal testing program should include the following:

Sediment – Excessive turbidity caused by sediment in the water can foul a resin bed and reduce its efficiency.  If the sediment is present, prefiltration of the water should be considered.  Consult the manufacturer for recommendations of prefiltration.

Total Hardness –  Softeners have limitations on the total harness level they can efficiently handle.  Consult the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure that the softener to be installed is suitable for the hardness level of the water supply.

Water hardness is a big problem in Phoenix Arizona (https://www.phoenix.gov/waterservices/waterquality).  By installing a water softener system in Phx AZ this can solve many of your hard water problems.  A water softener system in PHX Arizona can also save much time on cleaning your home.  A water softener system in Phoenix Arizona can improve the standard of your life.

Iron – A water softener can reduce low levels of ferrous iron in a water supply, usually in the range of 1-5 parts per million.  Consult the manufacturer for iron level limits for the equipment and for proper settings of the conditioner’s regeneration level depending on the amount of iron present in the water supply.  If iron levels exceed the manufacturer’s recommended maximum, and iron filter should be installed upstream of the softener.

We have not found any Iron in the San Tan Valley AZ water.  We specialize in providing water softener units to the nice people of San Tan Valley AZ.  We are finding many people who have skin problems like eczema, psoriasis and itchy skin; by installing a water softener unit in the San Tan Valley area – these problems will be corrected.  There is a little bit of salt in the soft water that falls on your skin.  Salt is a natural skin healer (https://www.livestrong.com/article/262946-the-healing-properties-of-sea-salt/).  A water softener unit installed on your San Tan Valley AZ home will help to make your skin soft and more healthy.  Water Softener Unit Installed in San Tan Valley AZ.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)  – Water with high levels of TDS can reduce the efficiency of a water softener by interfering with the exchange sites on the resin beads.  High TDS levels may reduce the capacity of the system.  To compensate for this reduction, higher levels of regeneration will be required.  Consult the manufacturer for limits on TDS.

TDS is high in Buckey Arizona (https://www.phoenix.gov/waterservicessite/documents/wsdprimarywqr.pdf).

A water softener unit in Buckeye Arizona will remove the calcium and magnesium ions.  The hardness minerals can cause plumbing problems (https://water.usgs.gov/edu/hardness.html) and leave a film on your dishes (https://learn.compactappliance.com/dishwasher-and-cloudy-glassware/).  A water softener unit in Buckeye Arizona will help eliminate hard water and make your dishes sparkle.

  1. Installation Requirements – Review Section I.
  2. Installation Procedures –

Step 1:  Determine location that meets all installation requirements

Step 2: Unpack all equipment and tools.  Check for missing or broken items.

Step 3: Review your installation plans.  (See installation diagram, fig 11.) Is there sufficient room?  Will there be soft water where it is needed and hard water everywhere else?

Step 4:  Complete any final assembly of softener components (i.e., mounting control valve, loading resin, attaching by-pass valve, or other accessories).

Step 5:  Shut off main water supply.

Step 6: Open faucets at all levels of the building to facilitate draining of the pipes.

Step 7:  Determine point at which you will cut  the existing water lines.  Place a bucket under the point at which you will make your cut.  Use the bucket to catch the water which drains form the line as you cut it.

Step 8: Proceed with the cutting and fitting of pipe and fittings (see Section I) in a manner which will direct the flow of water through the softener before it enters the water heater and all outlets except those which are to be by- passed.  See typical installation diagram (Fig.11), and also consult the manufacturer’s directions.

Note:  When installing the piping , be sure to connect incoming water to inlet side of valve.  Some valves have the inlet on the left, some on the right.  Also, remember to install a by-pass valve(s) in the system for each piece of equipment installed.

Step 9:  When piping is complete, place the softener in its proper location, level if necessary, and connect it to the water line.

Step 10:  Connect the drain line to a suitable drain and to the drain fitting on the valve.  Provide an air gap at the drain for each piece of equipment, and secure the drain line(s).

Step 11:  Connect the brine tank to the control valve following the manufacturer’s directions.

Step 12: Connect the unit to a suitable electrical outlet (if required).

Step 13:  Put the control valve into the backwash position.

Step 14:  With water supply off, put by-pass valve(s) in the service position.

Step 15: Open water supply valve very slowly.  Air should escape slowly from the drain line.   If the water enters too quickly, resin may be lost in the drain line.  CHECK FOR LEAKS!

Step 16: When all of the air has been purged from the mineral tank (water flows steadily from the drain line), open the main supply valve fully.

Step 17:  Allow water to run to the drain until clear.  CHECK FOR LEAKS!

Step 18: Put the control valve into the service position and purge the building water lines of air, starting with lowest floor and moving upward. CHECK FOR LEAKS!

Step 19:  Complete the start up procedures described by the manufacturer.

Step 20: Disinfect the system following manufacturer’s directions in Section I of this manual.

Step 21: Clean up the work area, and make one final check for leaks.

Step 22: Instruct the owner in the proper use and care of the water softener system.

From an article in USA Today 011218 – Special Report

The caption under this picture read:

Doctors suspect lead poisoning stunted the growth of Shar Allen Hardy’s son Wilson, who will be 2 in February.  After the family moved out of Cincinnati, they say his condition improve.

Kids must be retested for lead

7 million poison-detecting procedures may have been faulty

The authors of this article Carrie Blackmore Smith and Hannah Sparling

When children ingest lead, the chemical gets into their bloodstreams.  Then, it travels to the brain and can cause stunted growth, slurred or delayed speech, violent behavior and even death in rare cases.

For parents, lead poisoning and its unknowns are terrifying, Cincinnati mom Shar Allen Hardy said.

Lead in the water has been a big concern recently; we have a solution.  Certain types and configuration of carbon filtration can solve this problem.  Carbon filters can remove lead from the water.  We have designed filters to remove lead from your water.  We are in the process of testing water for lead throughout the valley.  So far the city water in which we have found lead is San Tan Valley AZ.  We will keep you posted.

Here is a link that identifies; lead that is present in the water can be remove by carbon (but it has to be the right type of carbon and the design must be appropriate):

I ran across this article:

New research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by a team of scientists from the University of Michigan, Colorado State University and Wayne State University revealed low chlorine levels as the cause of the 2014 to 2015 Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Flint, Mich. The scientists analyzed water and epidemiological data from the six year period before, during and after the Flint water crisis.

Chlorine reacts with heavy metals, such as lead, and the study suggested that the lead in the water distribution system may have decreased the amount of chlorine through that reaction. While the same amount of chlorine was used in the system as before the switch to the Flint River, the reaction caused the chlorine to be less effective in combating legionella bacteria.

In a normal year the disease would occur between six and 12 times in Flint, however, during the crisis Legionnaires’ disease occurred in approximately 45 cases per year, as reported by National Public Radio (NPR).

“The really striking finding from our research is that the amount of chlorine that needs to be present is actually influenced by other factors in this large municipal water system,” Michele Swanson, a Legionnaires’ expert from University of Michigan involved in the study told NPR. “So, for example, during the Flint water crisis, the amount of chlorine that needed to be present to reduce the risk of disease was much higher than normal.”

The study’s authors are optimistic that the findings will inform policy decisions in regard to the frequency of testing for legionella bacteria.

How does this relate to our Arizona water?

As our population grows (Arizona’s largest county gained 81,360 people, an average of nearly 223 people per day – per day – between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016, according to bureau estimates) 1 more chlorine must be added to the water.  This chlorine will flow into our homes.  Why must more chlorine be added?  Because our valley is utilizing more of the Central Arizona Project water 2  ‘which travels from Colorado to Arizona ‘mostly in an open canal’.   “When fully utilized, the Central Arizona Project will deliver on average 1.5 million-acre feet of Colorado River water to Maricopa, Pinal and Pima Counties.” 2  This may equal about 53% of our water in the future.  Therefore, the amount of chlorine that is added to our water may increase.

The cities must add chlorine to make the water safe.  The problem:  Chlorine is a poison and will be in the water we use for drinking and bathing.  This chlorine may cause adverse health conditions.  3, 4, 5

We are receiving complaint calls each week about the smell of chlorine and the bad chlorine taste in the Phoenix metro area water also in Buckeye and San Tan Valley Arizona.

We have a solution to remove the chlorine before it enters your home.  Our solution is our rental dynamic duel water softener and whole house carbon filter.   If a soft water loop is installed in your home; there is a one-time connection fee of $150 (if there is not a soft water loop; we are happy to perform a pre-plumbing inspection to give you an estimate) and the entire unit rents for $50/month plus tax.  This is a month to month program.  You may cancel at any time with no penalty.  We exchange this unit every 5 years at no charge.  If you are so kind to evaluate our work and make a positive comment on our Google every 6 months I will credit your account one month free.

Principle 6: Stories

What broader narrative can we wrap our idea in? (A) People don’t just share information, they tell stories.  (A) But just like the epic tale of the Trojan Horse, stories are vessels that carry things such as morals and lessons. (A) Information travels under the guise of what seems like idle chatter. (A)  So we need to build our own Trojan horses, embedding our products and ideas in stories that people want to tell. (A)  But we need to do more than just tell a great story. (A) We need to make virality valuable. (A) We need to make our message so integral to the narrative that people can’t tell the story without it. (A)

Maybe you can discuss with us this cutting-edge science about how your word of mouth and social transmission can work.  Maybe you can teach us how to leverage them to make our +Mg+Ph+h2o+ro and our dynamic duel water softener and carbon filters succeed.

Our whole house water treatment equipment can solve skin problems and make your water taste better.

This is a comment we just received on our Google:

Shawna S.
We relocated to AZ about two years ago and while we love living here – we didn’t love the water quality. Our children were having skin issues and it smelled like Chlorine when we bathed them. We also spent a lot of money and energy trucking to and from the water store to get adequate drinking water. We spent months researching water systems that we could afford – to no end. Then we found Boyetts and learned about their awesome and affordable leasing program. Their overall customer service and on-site visit was exceptional. They also did an amazing job on the installation – making sure every detail was perfect…down to matching our faucet finish in the kitchen! Now we have the BEST reverse osmosis drinking water and water softener in the industry. Even better, our children’s skin rashes and severely dry skin has gone away! We highly recommend them!

We have great hope that we can help solve serious skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dry itchy skin.  Many skin conditions are caused by hard water and water that contains chlorine.  Our dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter will solve these water problems.  There is a little bit of salt left in the water.  Salt is a natural healer for skin.

What does salt do for your skin? In addition to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that fight infection very effectively, it exfoliates, stimulates circulation, hydrates the skin, increases moisture retention, helps regenerate skin cells, detoxifies the skin, and helps to alleviate even the most severely dry skin conditions.want to consider adding salt to your skincare routine.

Drink deep
Hydration, water quality are keys to optimal health
By Brian Sodoma (excerpts of an interesting article)

Medical experts agree that water is essential to human health. Some sources may, however, recommend a much higher daily intake than others. An often-heard recommendation is to drink at least eight, 8-ounce glasses daily as a baseline then adjust for body weight and outside temperature. Others say drinking half your body weight in ounces of water is a good standard.
Water quality factor
Unfortunately, on any given day, most Americans find themselves in a state of dehydration. Being dehydrated by only a few percent is enough to make a person feel fatigued.
The availability of clean drinking water can play a role in some people’s ability to consume enough water, according to Owens. For those who rely on tap water for their main source of drinking water, the odor and taste can pose challenges.
“Generally speaking, tap water smells and tastes objectionable, so you’re more likely to end up drinking soda or an energy drink instead,” Owens said.
The use of chlorine in municipal water sanitation processes is one of the main reasons tap water may smell foul or have a poor taste. Chlorine is used to combat harmful bacteria potentially arriving in a home’s water supply. However, extremely high chlorine levels are used by municipalities in the Valley’s humid summer months and other times of the year.

A water softener unit in Phx AZ can save your appliances (http://www.masterplumbing.com/blog/water-softener-can-benefit-plumbing-system/).  Our dynamic duel water softener and whole house carbon filter customer in Phoenix Arizona told us that the water softener really improved the performance of their dish washer appliance.  A water softener unit in Phoenix Arizona can really help protect your water using appliances and faucets.

Our dynamic duel water softener and carbon filter will remove all the chlorine from your water.   You will be able to drink deep throughout your home.
